2017 Research Day at the Capitol Official Nomination Form

About the Event
Research Day at the Capitol was established over 20 years ago to showcase the outstanding undergraduate research being conducted at Oklahoma’s colleges and universities in the areas of science (including social science), technology, engineering, and mathematics. This event is sponsored by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, Oklahoma Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (OK EPSCoR), and the National Science Foundation.
Nomination Guidelines
All Oklahoma colleges and universities are invited to nominate one outstanding research project conducted by an undergraduate student who is currently enrolled at their institution(s). Institutions eligible to nominate more than one research project are: OU-Norman may nominate two; OU Health Sciences Center may nominate two; Oklahoma State University may nominate four; The University of Tulsa may nominate two. Nominations are distributed in this manner because some campuses have multiple colleges conducting research.
(Please note: There may only be one student nominated per research project.)
Student Nomination Restrictions:
- The student must be enrolled as an undergraduate at the nominating Oklahoma institution of higher learning for the entirety of the 2016-17 academic year.
- The research must have been performed at an OKLAHOMA institution of higher learning. Research performed at institutions outside of Oklahoma may not be presented by the student.
- The student must be a legal resident of Oklahoma.
- The student must attend each session indicated below. Waivers will not be granted; make-up dates will not be scheduled.
* Informational training session: Saturday, November 12, 2016, 9:30 a.m. – noon, Oklahoma City
* Poster presentation & judging: Monday, March 27, 2017, 4 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Oklahoma City
* Legislator visits: Tuesday, March 28, 2017, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., State Capitol, Oklahoma City
* Awards ceremony: Tuesday, March 28, 2017, 11 a.m. – noon, State Capitol, Oklahoma City
Nomination Submission Instructions
Each institution’s nomination package must be submitted online via the electronic form below. The following documents must be prepared and ready for upload at the time of submission:
- Research project abstract (Must be the work of the student and include a societal impact statement. Must not exceed 350 words. MS Word document file only. Students may submit revised abstracts to the EPSCoR office before Feb. 6, 2017.)
- Financial responsibility form (Download the form)
The accuracy of the information provided in the submission is essential, especially the student's permanent home address and local school address. This information will be used to identify the students’ state Legislators. Additionally, all stipends and awards must be mailed to the permanent address of record due to state regulations.
