About ROA+ Funding

Research Opportunity Award Plus (ROA+) funding provides regional university faculty members from primarily undergraduate institutions in Oklahoma with the opportunity to perform research at one of Oklahoma’s comprehensive research campuses (OU, OSU, TU, SRNF) during the summer months. The program enhances regional faculty members’ personal research experiences, while also supporting the development of ongoing collaborations with faculty at the comprehensive research campuses. These collaborations expand and enhance research efforts across the state.   ROA+ funding also allows the visiting researcher to incorporate their research experience into their classroom curriculum and to present their work at conferences.

BUDGET

  • Maximum allowable budget of individual awards is $12,500
  • Budget items may include the following...
    For the regional university faculty member:  summer salary, costs incurred for implementation of research into classroom teaching, and conference fees to present said research; the sponsoring lab may use a portion of the budget for lab supplies
  • If IDC is included in the proposal, it will be deducted from the award amount

TYPES OF RESEARCH FUNDED

  • Award preference will be given to research proposals in the CLIMATE VARIABILITY RESEARCH field
  • Areas of STEM research other than climate variability may be considered
  • Medical research does not qualify for funding through this program

TO APPLY

Applications must be routed through the appropriate institutional grants office.  (i.e. by the office at the institution processing the grant award.)

Submit the following items via email to [email protected] by March 1, 2014:

  • Brief 1-2 page description of the proposed research project
  • Budget summary (i.e. total lab supplies, stipend, etc.)
  • Letters of commitment from participating researchers
  • Biographical sketches/CVs of the participating researchers
